July started with the excitement of our first prom - luckily the weather held out and it was a fantastic night and a real eye opener for me as it was the first time I had experienced a prom. On the night, Rick transported four lads to Eynsham Hall and they got 2nd prize for most unusual transport award! We are really looking forward to doing more of these in the prom season next year now we are establishing ourselves, so the advice is to book early as I think we will have lots of interest for these next prom season.
Another highlight was the opportunity to use the Tuk for one of my daughters' “graduation” at Cherubs nursery in Shipton under Wychwood. She dressed up in a redundant bridesmaid dress and was certainly the belle of the ball (pics on Facebook).
It seems the key to business is getting the word out that there that you exist! This month we are promoting ourselves through flyers which we are dropping into all the main hotels and B&B’s within the surrounding area. From most drops there has been a very positive response so hopefully this will spread the word more that we are open for business.
The weather has been a bit mixed again his month, and it has given us a chance to test the Tuk’s weatherproof systems. Some adjustments are needed on the side covers and a replacement rear cover is on order.
Coming up in August there are lots of things nearby to Cotswold Tuk Tuk’s base, such as The Big Feastival in Kingham, Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace, and of course lots of visitors during the school holidays. ‘Football in the River’ in Bourton on the Water is a great hit every August Bank Holiday – previously we saw Griff Rhys Jones (the Welsh presenter/comedian) play against the locals. So why not take a trip in the tuk either to the event or add on some time to your stay to enjoy this unique opportunity.
