Afternoon Tea Express
Experience an Afternoon Tea with a difference!
During our first season this tour has proved to be the most popular package which combines both a unique tour around the beautiful Cotswolds in a genuine Thailand Tuk and a delicious Afternoon Tea. Because of the popularity of this tour we are now introducing a second route so if you’ve already been then please do come again and try out the new route!
For both the Routes -
From your chosen pick up point** you board the Tuk and we will first travel to the little Venice of the Cotswolds Bourton on the Water. After a gentle wander around we will then take the winding roads through to both Upper and Lower Slaughter. In both of these quaint Cotswold villages you will have the opportunity to disembark the Tuk and take in the fabulous surroundings.
Then for Route 1 -
We then climb back aboard, where we continue to travel through beautiful Cotswold scenic countryside and head towards one of my favourite little villages, Snowshill for another short stop (here there is the opportunity to visit the Snowshill Arms for a swift half***).
Continuing then onto Broadway Tower where there is the option to climb the tower*** on a clear day there are magnificent views across 16 English & Welsh counties. After this you can walk around the grounds of Broadway Tower, where you might even spot the tame red deer.
Next it’s back on the Tuk and down into the charming village of Broadway, here there will be ample time to wander around the village and peruse the lovely rows of independent shops before then venturing back through more beautiful countryside and country lanes to your original destination.
For Route 1 - The Afternoon Tea will be served either at the fabulous Tea Set in Broadway where you will have a pre-booked table either inside or outside whatever your preference, or picnic style at Broadway Tower after being prepared by the wonderful Mrs D's Vintage Teas (subject to limited availability Wednesday to Friday). Whichever one you get you won’t be disappointed as both Afternoon Teas consist of plenty of delicate sandwiches, tea, an array of homemade cakes, and scones with all the works.
Or for Route 2 –
Next we’ll take the very scenic route through Sherborne, Windrush and onto one of my favourite villages, Little Barrington. After taking a small stop here it’s back on board through the Oxfordshire border and through another unspoilt village Taynton, as we head towards Burford. Here, at the Gateway to the Cotswolds, you will have another stop to see some of the many local attractions / buildings - you could tackle Burford hill and take in the great views over towards Westhall Hill and the neighbouring village of Fulbrook, or just browse the many gift and antique shops. For those history buffs stop by St John the Baptist Church dating back to the 12th century.
Then we will take the road from Fulbrook over the Windrush valley and it’s here that you will disembark the Tuk and get your walking boots out (following the impossible to get lost map provided), you will walk just short of a mile through the beautiful valley and arrive at the most beautifully quaint small church of St Oswalds in the hamlet of Widford. The other option if you don’t fancy the walk is a swift half*** at The Swan at Swinbrook, or your party may want to split here and do their own thing. Before then venturing back through more beautiful countryside and country lanes to your original destination.
For Route 2 - The Afternoon Tea will be served either at the world renowned Huffkins Tea Room in Burford, or picnic style at Widford after being prepared by the wonderful Mrs D’s Vintage Teas (subject to limited availability Wednesday to Friday). So again whichever one you get you won’t be disappointed as both Afternoon Teas consist of plenty of delicate sandwiches, tea, an array of homemade cakes, and scones with all the works.
