Cotswold Tuk Tuk Tours April 2018 Blog

So the 2018 Tuk Tuk season has started and what a month it’s been. As always with the British weather there’s no telling what each day will bring. I started with a full day tour on an extremely misty and foggy, but thankfully dry day on Wednesday April 11th with a lovely couple who had travelled all the way from North Shields for a 60th birthday celebration. Despite the weather it was a fantastic start to the year and it was complimented by a beautiful afternoon tea that was prepared and delivered by Mr’s D’s Vintage Afternoon Teas. The gentleman was a keen photographer and we were all disappointed when at the top of Broadway Tower his camera wouldn’t work because it was that misty it couldn’t focus on anything! How strange was it that just a week later another full day tour with some American customers meant me needing shorts, shades and factor 30. Then at the end of the month another full day tour with some more American visitors where the rain curtains were needed all day. Along with these tours there was a surprise birthday tour to Oxford for a guy fresh back from Thailand, an afternoon trip out for a bunch of ladies on a weekend break and a lovely afternoon out with 2 sisters who wanted a small sightseeing tour with lunch for their parents with one of them celebrating their 85th birthday. I would just like to say thanks to the lovely staff at the Tea Set in Broadway who looked after my first octogenarians and my group of ladies who both commented on the excellent food and service. I am also really pleased to say that no matter what the weather has thrown at us everyone has stayed dry with the fantastic set of new tailor-made rain covers.

As I told you all last month my new white wedding Tuk Marion has arrived and she is currently being prepared for her first wedding in July. The only outstanding items are a service and some work on the front rain covers to make them completely watertight. I will certainly be going back to my contact who made up the new ones for Rick as they work brilliantly. Several people have been to visit and she is already booked out for 3 weddings including the very first booking for both of the Tuks for the same ceremony. The interest in weddings continues to amaze me and in particular in how people are finding us. Less than 20% of bookings are coming from paid advertising (thank goodness for Google search and Trip Advisor) so it’s certainly making me think about my 2019 advertising budget.

Again on every trip out it’s so nice that people just wander up with a genuine interest in Tuks and have a chat wanting to know all about them. Rick is still making an impact wherever he goes and I must mention that one of the friendliest villages I have found is Broadway.

So as the year ticks by I really hope that soon we have the opportunity to do a tour without the covers and I get to use a bit more of the factor 30. I am really looking forward to meeting all my new customers in the coming months and having some really fun days out. So why don’t you come and book, or if you see me please do come over and have a chat.

Don’t forget the limited special offer tours that are on offer for the Snowshill Lavender and the Fish & Chip evening specials. Many people have found that the 5 hour tour is a great session and therefore 09.30-14.30 is proving a popular slot for future bookings. We have some beautiful scenery in the month of May, the rapeseed fields are now turning a glorious yellow, and many local places have stunning bluebells appearing.

We also have limited prom availability - the Tuk is a fun and quirky way to travel to end of year proms/balls…great for a group of friends.

Check out the website for all the details of everything on offer! Join us on Instagram and Facebook and don’t forget to keep waving!
