Cotswold Tuk Tuk Tours September Blog
Hi again to you all, as the very first Tuk Tuk season draws to an end (or so I originally planned). When we first started out on this epic venture earlier this year the initial view was that it would quieten down after we went past August bank holiday. Well the exact opposite has happened - it seems that as we didn’t start till late June the word and our advertising is only just reaching our customers, and the bookings just keep coming in.
On the website and the blog last month we mentioned that the thinking was that Rick would be garaged from November - February and the very next day I had a request for a booking in November. At the moment there are bookings for October and November.
My favourite event of September has to be taking out a gentleman who has an MBE and his lovely friendly family. The plan was an hour tour round then take them to a local establishment for lunch and pick them back home a couple of hours later. It was always going to be difficult as they were local and how far can you go on a Tuk Tuk in an hour!! But I managed to show them some lesser known, but nevertheless beautiful local villages. They were amazed that I managed to take them places that they had never visited even though these were less than a 15 min car journey (25 min Tuk) from their home. And the Trip Advisor reviews keep coming in 5* from a man with an MBE - who else can say that in their first 3 months of business?
It’s a busy weekend coming up so really hoping the weather holds. On Saturday I have tours this time taking in a different route so that will be very interesting, and I am using the fantastic services of Mr’s D’s Vintage Tealivery service again. As I write this another two bookings have come in for next week. I’d better check the working time regulations for the maximum amount of driving hours allowed on a Tuk Tuk!
The surprising thing for me about most of the future bookings are that these are for Anniversary’s. There is a 50th birthday surprise a 60th birthday surprise and a silver wedding anniversary. This is an area of the business which has surprised me in that people on these once in a lifetime special days want to spend it on the Tuk. I find it a great honour and plan to make each day very special.
So as for November - February we still plan to rest Rick but he will be available for one-off events, but not for the standard tours.
Don’t forget the gift vouchers for the Cream / High Tea Express along with vouchers for a full day tour. What a Christmas present for that hard-to-buy-for person!
Lots of work and planning is going on over the winter months and for the 2018 season along with the very popular Cream Tea Express we plan to start up more similar ventures including an evening tour so keep following the blogs or catch us on Instagram.
Don’t forget keep waving or beeping when you see us!
